Mister Smarty Pants

Asher has been working on his ABC's and 123's.

We usually count to 5 because I have a hard enough time getting Asher to start with ONE.  Here is how the conversations goes:

Me: Let's count to five.  One...

Asher: Two...

Me: Good.  But start with one.  One...

Asher: Two...

Me: Asher say ONE

Asher: TWO

Me: Say ONE

Asher: TWO

Me: Ash this is one. (holding up one finger) Say ONE.

Asher: TWO!

And so on...  So today I gave up on the battle with ONE and continued on so that he could learn his numbers all the way up to ten.  After five, I said, "six...seven" and he said, "eight...nine...TEN!"  The boy already knew how to count to ten!  Shocked me to death!  Oh how I underestimated him being hung up on the "one" thing.  We kept practicing right before nap and I got some on video.  (sorry the quality of the video is dark but it was nap time and really it's the sound I care about)

 

 

Asher is also learning his ABC's.  We sing them everyday before nap and bedtime, along with Twinkle Twinkle and Jesus Loves Me.

Emery is sooooo smart and sometimes I feel that I have set the bar really high for Asher when it comes to learning.  But he proves to me everyday that is no dummie...no matter how many times he jumps off the couch and falls on his head. *sigh
