The first batch we got was exciting. It was deep and powdery and dry enough to keep your clothes from getting too wet too fast.
We took the sleds all over the neighborhood and had a great time hitting the slopes with friends and drinking lots of hot chocolate.
We made snow angels and caught flakes on our tongues.
We even helped a few neighbors shovel their driveway.
Once all of that melted, we got another 4 inches about a week later.
Then the polar vortex attacked us. (is anyone else tired of that overused term?) Disregard the "high of 43" on the thermometer. That is just when I brought it inside to change the batteries. I think the high was 12 that day. TWELVE! I looked over and noticed that the temp went up to 33 degrees at one point but then saw that the thermometer had fallen off the wall into the snow. You know its bad when the snow is warmer than the air.
Then it warmed up to a balmy 32 degrees and the ice came. Did you know that Branson has a new ice skating rink? Its called the streets. I can't remember the last time David drove himself to work. Thank goodness he has someone that he works with that has a vehicle that can handle snow and ice... and fear.
So we have had to be creative while being cooped up in the house all day.
We had letter scavenger hunts.
We painted pictures.
We made Christmas crafts.
We baked lots of goodies.
Lincoln soaked up ever scrap of sunlight he could.
Ok Winter, you sure showed us. You rule, we drool. It's not funny anymore.
