16 Weeks

4 months and moving right along.
Right now, the baby is about 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and weights approximately 3 1/2 ounces. That's about the size of an avocado. How appropriate for Cinco De Mayo! I think I'll celebrate tonight by making tacos for dinner...with avocado of course.
I still receive the weekly baby growth email updates from babycenter.com and it is nice to be reminded of whats going on in my belly from week to week. For example, this week our little one is growing toe nails. Other important things are happening too. The eyes and ears are moving into their final position and the patterning of the scalp has begun. I wonder if this baby will have as much hair as Emery did when she was born. I had to buy a bottle of Tums this week so, it certainly is possible.
As you can see, my belly is getting bigger. I'm in that weird transition period right now where my regular clothes are a little too tight for comfort but maternity clothes are still a little too big. I'm wearing a lot of yoga pants. And when I do need to wear jeans, I just cheat the button open and wear a long shirt to cover. No one will ever know....except for the fact that I just announced it.
I was reading the 16 week blog post from when I was pregnant with Emery, (which happened to be my first blog post ever by the way) and found it funny that I was craving cereal, smoothies, tomatoes with ranch dressing, garlic bread sticks, and fruity sorbet. This go around I can't seem to get donuts off my brain. Unfortunately I can't satisfy that craving because we only have Krispy Kreme in town and I despise Krispy Kreme. Their donuts aren't fluffy and the glaze is so thick that it leaves a coating in your mouth that feels like you just licked your chapstick. I want Dunkin Donuts or some mom and pop place that makes them fresh right in front of me. David has searched all over town for me with no luck. You better believe that the next time we leave town, we will be making a stop.
