IT'S A BOY!!
And we are sooooo excited! We weren't even supposed to find out the sex for another 3 weeks. However, at our appointment yesterday, we asked the doctor if we could get our ultrasound done a little early since we were going to be in TN during my 21st week. She said the measurements and the ultrasound had to wait until we got back but that we could take a quick peek right then to find out the sex if we were anxious to know. We gave her a big thumbs up and said "OK!" in unison. As I started to lay down on the table David asked,"You mean we are going to find out right this second?" "Why, did you change your mind?" the doctor asked with a smile. "Oh no...I want to know," he said quickly. She rolled the monitor over my belly for a couple of minutes waiting for the baby to get in the right position. We could see his head, little arms and legs, spine, belly. It was our first real glimpse of him that didn't look like a pulsing blob. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his leg making it a little difficult to determine the "parts." I said, "I dunno babe, it looks like a girl to me." David- (focused silence) Then the doctor said, "No, I think its a boy." "How can you be sure? I don't see it," David said with a glimmer of hope. "See, right there. The cord just moved," she said, snapping the shot above. "Well, how sure are you?" David said, not wanting to give in to pure joy just yet. She very nonchalantly replied, "Oh I don't know, 98% sure." And it was fist pumping from then on out. You couldn't wipe the smile off his face for the rest of the day. In fact, he is still beaming.
