The day finally came! Our little girl has been born into this world and we could not be more excited. Emery Grace is in perfect health and thriving. In my last post, I mentioned that I had gone to the doctor and she warned me that I might have the baby that night. Well she was right. I went home after the appointment and took it easy for a while keeping track of my contractions. Around 3:30 they started getting stronger and David came home from work. At about 7:30 the contractions were about 7 minutes apart so we called the doctor and headed to the hospital. When we arrived, the triage nurse asked why we waited so long because I was already dilated 5 centimeters. "They told me to wait until my contractions were 5 minutes apart," I said. Luckily that meant that we were able to get the anesthesiologist in right away for the epidural. Kudos to Dr. Levi by the way because he made all the pain go away. At 2:35am Christmas morning Emery Grace was born. She is so beautiful and has the fullest head of hair. She looks just like her daddy. We brought her home on the evening of the 26th and have been loving every minute of this new addition. Two sets of grandparents have been here to help out and the extra set of hands have been greatly appreciated. More grandparents are to come in the future and can't wait to meet her. We are so blessed to have a big family and lots of friends to give our little girl all the love she can handle.
So far Emery is loving every bit of life. She is a great eater and has gained weight every day from birth. Normally the doctors give babies two weeks to get back up to their birth weight and Emery is already 5 ounces above not to mention an inch taller. She is also a pretty good sleeper. She gets us up two or three times at night for feedings and diaper changes and then goes right back to sleep. God has really blessed us with the perfect pregnancy, birth, and child. Things have been much easier than we expected.
Emery loves visitors so if you are local or plan to be in town, give us a ring so you can drop by to meet her. We plan to keep the baby blog going for everyone to stay updated with her growth. Plus, it is a great way to share the latest pics.
Before I sign off I would like to mention that after a long battle with cancer, David's stepmother Bonnie died four days after Emery was born. She was a very intelligent lady with a big heart and a great eye for antiques. David looked up to her a lot and shared a love for reading with her. She is actually the one who suggested the name Emery to us. Bonnie will always hold a special place in our hearts
