Its Baby Time! Goodbye Cankles!

Days to go: 4

Weeks: 39

Weight gained so far: 32lbs

Well guys it is about that time! We have exciting news. A lot happened at the doctor this morning. When we walked through the door, Dr. James asked me if I would like to be induced on Sunday night/Monday morning. I said sure! She will be out of town on Christmas and New Years, so in order for her to deliver the baby she offered to induce. Our little girl has been measuring big anyway so inducing wouldn't be a bad idea. (Plus, David and I were really hoping to have her before the new year starts)

This all may be a moot point however, because I started having mild contractions early this morning. They are irregular and sporadic so I wasn't worried about going into labor right away, but very glad I had a chance to tell Dr. James about them in person at my appt. She checked my cervix and said "Well, we may not make it to Monday! You are dilated 3cm." So, if the contractions start coming closer together we may have this baby as soon as tonight! If not, I am scheduled to be induced at midnight on Sunday the 28th.

Bags packed....check! Lincoln is taken care of...check! (thanks Roz and Nick) Cookies for the nurses...check!(we want to make sure we are taken care of haha ;) Mom and Kendall have already booked their flight and will be here tomorrow morning and Dad and Deborah should be here sometime on Sunday. Grandparents...check! (well half of them anyway) I think we are good to go!

David and I are so excited that this is finally happening. I have been so uncomfortable the past couple of weeks. My legs swell at the drop of a hat. The worst was last Sunday. We were in church and I was having the worst hot flashes. Then we ate a very salty lunch afterward with some friends. When we got home, I was changing clothes and looked down to see that my ankles had swollen to 10 times their normal size! Heat + Salt = Major Cankles! (a combination of calf and ankle) It was like they had blown up right before my eyes just like Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor. I screamed "David! Something is wrong!" I immediately called my mother and explained the situation. She calmed me down and said that I just needed to sit down, put them up, and drink lots of water. So I did and finally they went back down to somewhat normal. They were a sight though. "A thing of beauty," David called them. Whatever they were, it was enough to cause a minor freak out. (David would say major)

Anyway, I will be glad to have my normal body back soon. I will be really glad to finally have our little girl here. We will keep everyone updated on her birth. Next time I post there will be a picture of her cute little face. :) Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We love you all and wish you a very Merry Christmas. Wish me luck!
