Welcome to the world Asher Thomas Ayer!
As many of you know, I had been having sporadic contractions for a few days. At our doctor appointment on Thursday morning we were hoping to find out that I was dilated more than 2cm. I wasn't. So, to help things along, our doctor stripped my membranes. Don't worry, it's not as crazy as it sounds. And it helps! Because, by 10 o'clock the next morning my once an hour contractions turned into 6 or 7 and hour contractions. After 3 hours of consistency, we called the doctor to tell her things were starting to progress. She asked us to come by the office to check me once again. It sounded something like this... "Oh yes you are now dilated to a 4 and...Whoops!" Cue the gush. My water broke accidentally during the examination. Let me just tell you, there is no way that I could ever have fathomed the amount of water a pregnant woman can hold. I soaked the exam table as well as the exam room floor. We did our best to stop it up since we had to get in the car and go to the hospital. I pretty much left a trail all the way from the doctor's office across town to my labor and delivery room.
Once there, my contractions went from mildly uncomfortable to YOWZA! WHEN CAN I GET THAT EPIDURAL?! After a little longer than I cared to wait, the epidural came and I allowed people to get their cameras out.
See, nice and comfortable.
The grand parents couldn't wait to come in and meet him.
Look at all that hair!
Right now, he's pretty much hairy all over. He's my little monkey.
So far, he is a really good baby. He pretty much slept through his first 18 hours of life which worried his mama because she kept waking him up to eat which he did not want to do. Luckily now he seems to be eating like a champ and can't get enough.
He makes a lot of funny faces.
